Callen-Lenz supports Skybridge Workshop

This week, Callen-Lenz attended the first industry workshop for Sky Bridge, a proposed BVLOS autonomous systems corridor linking Yeovil and Cambridge. The session, hosted at Cranfield University by Satellite Applications Catapult, brought together partners from industry, academia, government and regulators.

The workshop convened a strong cross-section of stakeholders to explore the technical, regulatory, policy and use case considerations required to enable a fully instrumented, shared drone corridor aligned with the UK’s airspace modernisation and industrial strategy ambitions.

There was clear momentum and collaborative intent across the group, and we welcomed the formation of focused working groups to help progress the concept through scope development, CONOPs and ultimately towards a robust business case.

Callen-Lenz’s key takeaways:

  • Cross-sector alignment on the strategic value of a UK BVLOS corridor.
  • Recognition of the need for early regulatory engagement and clear governance frameworks.
  • The importance of scalable infrastructure and data-sharing to enable safe, routine BVLOS operations.
  • Significant opportunity for dual-use applications across defence, security and civil markets.
  • A shared commitment to collaboration for the next programme phase.

Callen-Lenz looks forward to continuing to contribute to this ambitious and nationally significant initiative.
