Strengthening UK–Japan collaboration in autonomous defence innovation

We were proud to participate in the Trade Mission to Tokyo, hosted by the British Embassy Tokyo, bringing together industry leaders, innovators, and government stakeholders to strengthen international collaboration across advanced aerospace and autonomous systems.

Callen-Lenz was also delighted to contribute to the panel discussions, providing a valuable platform to share insights and reinforce our position as a trusted voice in the evolving UAS landscape.

For Callen-Lenz, the mission reinforced several key themes shaping the future of defence and dual-use technology:

  • The growing demand for rapidly deployable autonomous capabilities across allied nations.
  • Increased focus on interoperability, trusted partnerships, and operational resilience.
  • Strong momentum behind AI-enabled ISR, uncrewed systems, and sovereign capability development.
  • The importance of closer UK-Japan collaboration in advancing next-generation defence technologies.

The discussions throughout the week highlighted how innovation moves fastest when government, industry, and operational end-users work in partnership.

Callen-Lenz remains committed to delivering mission-focused autonomous solutions that meet evolving operational requirements, not just innovation, but capability that is ready to deploy, while supporting international collaboration with trusted partners across the Indo-Pacific and beyond.

Thank you to the British Embassy Tokyo team and all participating organisations for hosting an insightful and valuable mission. We look forward to continuing the conversations and building on the opportunities identified in Tokyo.
